The Birth Of A Villainess

Chapter 188 - Trust

When Lin Feng heard that something happened to his father, he dropped everything that he was doing. It didn\'t matter if he was inside the court discussing the matters of the empire or in the middle of taking a bath, once it concerns Lin Xiaomeng, he wouldn\'t even hesitate to go to him.

Lin Feng\'s eyes landed instantly on the figure lying in the bed. His father was tucked inside the blanket but the strong smell of medicinal herbs and the presence of Doctor Fang was enough to tell him that this was a dire situation where his father\'s life was in danger.

"What exactly happened here?" He questioned Attendant He who was stood on one side.

"Master has been poisoned, young master Lin Feng." Attendant He began before he started to tell him what really happened.. The one he also told Lin Xiaofei.

Soon after hearing the story from the old attendant who served his father for years, Lin Feng grew silent as he felt lightheaded from worry. His face significantly turned pale and he rushed towards where the bed was.

As much as he wanted to kneel before the bed and wake his father who was supposed to be the strongest man he has ever met in his life, Lin Feng didn\'t want to show his weakness to everyone.

"Is that the servant who served the poison?" Lin Feng asked and he saw the old attendant nodding his head in confirmation.

Suddenly, a silver light flashed as Lin Feng pulled one of the swords from one of the guards standing behind the female servant.

Lin Feng might not inherit his father\'s valiant spirit and strong body, he can still kill the person who brought harm to his father!

And because of that, he raised both his hand to strike the female servant. He wanted to cut her in half and die!

However, before he could even lower his sword and strike down, he saw his niece blocking his way and standing before him.

"Lin Xiaofei! What are you doing? Get out of my way!" Lin Feng glared at her.

"First uncle, please do calm down." Lin Xiaofei stared at his eyes and shook her head as if she didn\'t approve of what he was doing. "This servant is the only one who can lead us to the real perpetrator. I cannot let you kill her and bury the truth with her."

"What are you talking about?" He narrowed his eyes at her, "Are you perhaps being suspicious of me and thought I did this to my father?"

"Why would I think of that towards First uncle? Grandfather and First uncle\'s relationship is genuine and filled with love between father and son. There is no way First uncle would try and poison grandfather." Lin Xiaofei paused for a second before she continued, "I also naturally don\'t have any reason to do that since grandfather is the only one who dotes on me. However, that didn\'t change the fact that we need to know more about this case before killing her."

Honestly, Lin Xiaofei could understand that Lin Feng would think that she was accusing him of poisoning Lin Xiaomeng. After all, the two were never close to each other and their trust was never established in the first place.

Unfortunately, she couldn\'t do anything about that thus, trying to make him trust her now was not easy.

Besides, Lin Xiaofei never forget her first rule. To never trust anyone easily. So the feeling was mutual. But at this point, she has to think about her grandfather and Lin Feng seemed to be the only person who really cared about her grandfather.

Lin Feng scrutinized her for a few seconds. He said, "It seems you have some idea on what we should do about this. What do you plan to do then?"

Lin Xiaofei blinked her eyes innocently and said, "First uncle is the smartest person in this room. Naturally, you already have an idea of what to do. But I suggest to keep this woman close or else, someone might silence her."

She didn\'t want to take full responsibility for this matter. If she tried to tell Lin Feng what she planned to do, he might get suspicious of her identity. That was why she wanted him to handle everything.

The real perpetrator was still on the loose. They could get away and leave with a smile on their faces. But Lin Xiaofei hoped that they would really do their best to run because once she got her hands on them, they will wish they drank the poison instead of crossing her.

After fifteen minutes, Lin Feng noticed something and turned to his niece, "You should go back to your courtyard now. I\'ll handle things here and make sure that by the next time you went out of your room, you are properly dressed."

"I will remember that, First uncle." Lin Xiaofei said before she went back to her courtyard with her personal maids.

Looking at her middle clothes, Lin Feng was half scolding her and half satisfied to see that Lin Xiaofei came running when she heard that her grandfather was poisoned.

It wasn\'t a wonder why Attendant He would call for her first since she was the favorite of his father but maybe it wasn\'t only because of that.

Lin Feng could see that Lin Xiaofei was quick to order everyone inside the room and didn\'t make the matter blow up. She made sure that everything was secretly done and no one would hear of Lin Xiaomeng being in a perilous situation.

"Young master, what should we do with her?" Attendant He asked him after Lin Xiaofei walked out of the room.

Lin Feng glanced at the female servant who was kneeling on the ground and his eyes darkened when he remembered that this was the person who poisoned his father.

"Throw her to the cellar and assign guards to look after her. Don\'t let anyone other than me in or talk to her. Let her experience what happens when someone harms the Lin family. Make sure that she won\'t die." Lin Feng returned the sword back to the guard before heading outside.
